PREVIEW: Psychedelic Porn Crumpets Return to the States

It’s no secret that Los Angeles has become a massive hub for rock n’ roll purists in the last several years. To bring our summer to an end, the Regent in downtown Los Angeles is providing a classic night of riff-based psych rock, hosting Aussie group, Psychedelic Porn Crumpets, along with local garage heroes, Meatbodies, for a night sure to melt a face or two. Fresh from a festival tour around Europe to promote their latest studio album And Now for the Watchamacallit, the band is ready to kick off a massive U.S. tour supporting their incredibly dynamic and rowdy third studio album.

Playing their first-ever Los Angeles show earlier this Spring at the Teragram Ballroom with popular local psych group Frankie & the Witch Fingers, Jack McEwan and company are back, playing bigger stages to bigger audiences that have had the summer to familiarize themselves with the new album. With only a few singles out, the group is premiering other tracks off the album live during this United States tour. The live show is sure to feel different to repeat concert-goers, and are sure to be treated to a show that feels fresh. Though the promise of something new, the flaming dynamic energy of the Psychedelic Porn Crumpets will remain the same, as it’s become a known characteristic of the group worldwide.

With a former tour lineup consisting of Frankie & the Witch Fingers this last Spring, it’s only appropriate and fitting that the Meatbodies and Morgan Delt are support acts; the groups being a part of a very close-knit and eclectic local psych-rock scene. Meatbodies is playing their first gig at home since spending the summer recording the highly-anticipated follow-up release to 2017’s Alice. Meatbodies fans should make sure to arrive early, as Chad Ubovich and crew may be premiering some unreleased material.

For fans of big riffs and all things head-banging, the Regent is the place to be on Thursday, September 5. The show has sold out, but keep your eyes peeled for giveaways by your local radio stations and on social media. If anything, make sure to listen to what Psychedelic Porn Crumpets have cooked up from their rowdy countryside jam-cave. Grab some earplugs, stretch your neck and come on down to the rock n’ roll show!
